OCT CRO Presents on Clinical Trials in the EAEU at BioGCP Salon in Chengdu

Chengdu, June 18, 2026. — Eugenia Radkova, Head of MedSci Consulting and Excellence at OCT, a leading contract research organization in Russia and Eastern Europe, delivered a presentation at the BioGCP Series Themed Salon 2026 held in Chengdu, China. The event was organized by the Biomedical Industry Bureau of Chengdu High-tech Zone and the Biomedical Informatics Society of Chengdu.

The salon, focused on GCP practices in the EAEU region, featured Radkova's talk on ICH GCP regulations and clinical trial conduct in Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union. She provided practical strategies for sponsors, explored collaboration opportunities with Chinese partners, and highlighted key aspects of bringing drugs to the common EAEU market.

In her presentation, Ms. Radkova noted that EAEU regulatory requirements are largely harmonized with ICH, EMA, and FDA guidelines, which facilitates the integration of international data. However, local features remain: registration requires a trial involving EAEU patients (or an alternative GCP inspection, though this mechanism still has limited experience). Clinical trial approval processes are country‑specific within each EAEU member state.

She emphasized that Russia is the undisputed leader in the number of clinical trials in the region, 613 trials were approved in 2025 alone. The quality of data is confirmed by FDA, EMA, and NMPA inspections. Including at least one EAEU country in an international multicenter trial is a cost‑effective strategy that saves time and resources compared to conducting a standalone local study.

The Chinese audience showed particular interest in the sections on registration of herbal medicines manufactured in China (for which clinical trials are not required under specific conditions), as well as orphan drugs and expedited registration pathways.

The event served as an important platform for dialogue between Russian experts and the Chinese pharmaceutical community, opening new opportunities for joint clinical development projects.
